Levi Stubbs (born Levi Stubbles) the lead vocalist of the Motown group The Four Tops, has died in
his sleep at the age of 72.

Levi has suffered from ill-health for several years - he was diagnosed with cancer in 1995 and later
suffered a stroke, which forced him to stop touring. He leaves only one surviving original member
(Abdul Fakir) of The Four Tops, who had sold more than 50 million records worldwide.

He was also known as an actor and famously provided the voice of the man-eating plant, Audrey II, in
the 1986 film The Little Shop of Horrors.

He leaves behind him his wife Clineice, whom he married in 1960 and five children and 11
grandchildren. He was also the cousin of soul singer Jackie Wilson.

He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and his millions of fans worldwide.

Levi was the cream.

The Four Tops changed my life forever.
They introduced me to music which was sung from the heart and gave you a feeling of pure heaven. Knowing you was going to see them live filled you with such excitement and you was never dissapointed. Losing any member has been emotional and seemed very personal but losing Levi was one of the sadist days of our lives (for myself and my husband) We married at the height of their music and shall die still singing along to THE FOUR TOPS. You still give us an absolute thrill when we hear you sing. Levi,God gave you a wounderful voice and thankfully you shared it. You have no idea how you aided peoples lives due to the power of the voice. THE BIGGEST BIGGEST THANK YOU IN THE WORLD.

To a wonderful entertainer and person

Thank you for 40 years of enjoyment listening to your music. 'Just Ask the Lonely' is such a beautiful song (and so true!). And no one can sing it like Levi Stubbs, i'm sure. Thank you to his family and friends for sharing him with us for so long! We will miss him very much.

You Live Always In Our Hearts!

The first record I bought as a child was Four Tops! I had shoe boxes full of Motown and Four Tops 45's by the time I was 12. Levi was an idol to me and then, God moved my adult life in a direction where I have been blessed to not only meet but become friends with Levi's daughters and attend some of their family gatherings. I could only cry then as I was so honored to be in their presence. Knowing his daughters and grandchildren only made my love and respect for him grow deeper as I know he was a very special man to raise such a wonderful, loving, and humble family. Thank you Levi for themusic you leave with us and the wonderful family you raised!

Levi, On stage you & the guys were electric. Saw you several times at the Hammersmith Odeon (OMG those were the days!) & always managed to get a front row seat in the 70s. But what a wonderful life you must have had ... three great friends, a wonderful wife and 5 kids! I've been dreading this time and I am so sad.
